Enough with the killing of Black people at the hands of the police officers who are supposed to protect us. Enough with politicians who seek to divide us. Enough with racist policies.
In this moment and in all moments, The Fairness Project stands with the protesters and organizations that are leading the fight against racism and police brutality. We stand with every voice that seeks to amplify a simple but profound message: Black Lives Matter.
We honor George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, Atatiana Jefferson, Alton Sterling, Michael Brown, Trayvon Martin, Tamir Rice, Philando Castile, Tony McDade, Eric Garner, and so many others, and those whose names we will never know.
In the march toward equality, our country has a long way to go.
Systemic racism has led to anti-Black corporate and public policies that undervalue and underserve Black people in America. Black Americans are more likely to go without insurance or be underserved by our health care system, more likely to work in jobs that put them in harm’s way, more likely to earn poverty wages, more likely to be denied access to personal or commercial credit, more likely to not have access to paid leave when they get sick or when they need to care for a loved one, and more likely to be killed by the police.
It’s time to reject the systemic racism that has been found in this country since its origins. We’re done waiting on politicians to solve these problems for us.
It’s time for Americans to demand and hold politicians accountable for the fundamental and permanent changes that we need.
