In the most consequential election in our lifetime, voters across the country delivered hope. And yet, that doesn’t mean this election will guarantee the policy changes Americans desperately need.

Americans want the lessons from this pandemic learned, and simply returning things back to the way they were pre-pandemic won’t help the millions of Americans who have been left behind. We face deep structural economic, health and racial challenges that require permanent solutions for the essential workers who have been harmed the most by COVID-19 and the economic devastation that has accompanied it.

The Fairness Project is calling federal and state governments to prioritize the following policies in the next 100 days:

  • Raise the minimum wage to put money back into people’s pockets and stimulate the local economy.
  • Guarantee paid family, medical, and sick leave for all Americans to stop the spread of disease and enable employees to take time off to care for themselves and their loved ones
  • Ensure that all Americans have access to health care — no matter where they live.

These common sense policies are widely supported by Americans across the political spectrum that voters have already passed in multiple states with the help of The Fairness Project, and they provide a great place to start. It’s time to go beyond the talk, put politics aside, and get things done for the American people.
