Director of Development
David Stanley has been a senior leader in a range of high-impact political, philanthropic, and non-profit ventures. He brings nearly fifteen years of experience to his role as Director of Development at The Fairness Project.
David is a talented major gifts fundraiser who has worked on behalf of progressive political candidates, and with results-driven 501c4 and 501c3 organizations, in California and nationally. In the 2018 election cycle, he helped drive a $34 million fundraising effort for candidates across California.
Previously, David was the Executive Director of Teach For America in Los Angeles. He grew Teach For America’s local teacher corps by 40%, increased the region’s funding base by more than $2 million, managed 36 staff members and a 10-member Advisory Board, and was responsible for ensuring the effectiveness of more than 300 teachers.
David began his career as a public school teacher in Harlem, where his passion for advocating on behalf of his students – and on behalf of working families – was ignited.
David holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Yale University, and a Master of Science in Teaching from Pace University.
