Chris Salm is the Research Director at The Fairness Project. He supports our local initiative campaigns to promote economic justice by providing analytical and policy expertise. Whether it’s determining how many people will be affected by our efforts, the cost or savings to state and local governments, or just pulling together some key stats, Chris is on the job!
Chris has spent more than 20 years applying his research and analytical skills fighting for working families in the labor movement. Prior to coming to The Fairness Project, he served as the Deputy Strategic Research Director for SEIU Healthcare, the largest union of health care workers in America, where he lead a team of analysts who worked with local unions to develop strategic organizing plans, and provided strategic guidance to local and national leaders.
Before that he served as the Director of Research at SEIU – United Healthcare Workers West (SEIU-UHW). At SEIU-UHW, he and his team, developed and analyzed a number of initiatives aimed at lowering the cost of healthcare and improving wages for healthcare workers. Chris’s career began in Las Vegas, where he founded the research department at SEIU Nevada, and met his wife on his first day of work.
When Chris isn’t busy fighting for economic justice, he enjoys bowling with his team “The Swamp Dwellers,” building things out of wood, and smoking (meat, fish, and veggies on grill).
